Receptionists are horrible, they seem to hate patients!Can never get an appointment, it takes a month. Doctors are always running late.Mistakes galore.
Dr Hall is an excellent doctor. This is no reflection on him. Since the surgery has moved, I avoid it like the plague. It is impersonal and cold in nature. A new generation of doctors who regularly mis diagnose & when not on holiday often give you the feeling that they are doing you a favour when you are wasting their time on a precious 10 minute slot you probably booked a month earlier. There's a total lack of empathy & sympathy with the patients who are probably assumed to be fools anyway. Thankfully I am well, but I hear the same complaints over and over again from others. One problem, is that people don't complain, so nothing changes.
Receptionists are rude and disrespectful. Privacy is not respected by the receptionists on the phone or even in person. The staff are not trained doctors or qualified to give medical advice but ask you lot of personal questions which is not acceptable. The practice is pretty clean, well kept and is easy accessible with a pharmacy inside so its easy to pickup your prescription. The only thing wrong with this practice is the staff(reception). I guess those who voted to leave the EU may have an issue with the medical practitioners here as most of them are foreign but don't fall for the NHS is under pressure rubbish, everyone still pays tax and more people means more tax. Overall 1 because of the rude receptionists which spoils this whole place.
A fairly new and modern build is the new health centre in Alwoodley.I approach it from the Yeadon side of the ring road A6120 and turned off at the Homebase traffic lights and not King Lane roundabout . Turn right along the Saxon and follow it with Homebase on your right and housing estate on your left . You will come across the centre on the right hand side. As you turn into the car park follow the arrows and you will see that there are 5 disabled parking bays . There is also a drop off /pick up point but no parking directly in front of the building . There is also 1parking bay for an EV (electric vehicle) complete with charging point .On approach to the main doors the surface is all flat and level and remains so right through the building .The main doors are automatic and slide open as you approach . There is a further double door to go through a few feet in front of you . One of the design flaws I noticed during my visit is I picked a busy time and the entrance , the reception and the entrance to the chemist are all close and caused a little log jam for a couple of minutes! The reception is in your front left and access to the chemist to your immediate right . Turn left and on your left is the waiting area . There are plenty of seats but a bit close together for my liking considering the vast amount of space available !! I couldnt get my wheelchair in amongst the seats but lots of room to park up near the toilet area . Considering that this is a new build I was disappointed to see that the baby change and disabled wc were both in the same room !!Considering how busy the place was the reception staff were polite and efficient and everything went smoothly . I noticed on my way out that there were several footpaths going in various directions into the housing estates and across to king lane and the bus stop . The chemist has an external sliding door as well as the large internal one giving direct access from the surgery . An enjoyable experience .
I don't get peoples issue with this practice.Its reception staff are polite and helpful. All the Doctors I have seen have been professional, friendly, and polite...The new building is what it is.No different to many modern medical centres. The appointment issue,is not solely the fault of the practice, so let's stop the blame game...There are people living longer with more complex medical issues. The NHS is not like it used to be, and that is not the fault of this practise....Be grateful for what we have, some countries have nothing in terms of medical services...I phoned this morning and got an appointment for two hours later....The Doctors are happy to call you back and if they think you need to see someone...You will.We cannot go back to a time when you could call your family Doctor out and chat while drinking tea with him/her....So stop complaining, just get on with it.Want to blame someone.Try the NHS!!!
