overall great shop and you can see on peak times the impact this ASDA has on the local community, food is fresh, especially the salads, however the cherry tomatoes do not look as ripe as they should be
Have had a few items from here which have been out of date. The staff are always helpful and friendly. The layout is ok but is always very crowded with trolleys stocking the shelves (understandable as it is a busy store). The full store is more or less self service checkouts which is really annoying at busy times! Not great if you have specific items you want would be better visiting the owl Coates as its selected lines only. Great for nipping into though.
We did some shopping at this Asda and brought home (by mistake) chocolate buns that where 6 days out of date! Absolutely disgusting this it twice in a year this has happened with out of date pop, I mean pop doesnt that last like a year! I have been trying to phone the store for about an hour as my 10 month is in bed and didnt have any one to go take them back! They dont shut till 10? They cant even be bothered to answer the phone! Wont be going there again!
I own a business not too far from this store, i have been to this store on many occasions. However each time i go there i am asked to provide ID to purchase cigarettes. The staff are familiar with me and have seen me many times. I have provided ID on the first occasion however they still keep asking me for it when i go. I think this is unacceptable and i should not be treated like this. I have had my business for over 3 years and this has been going on too far. I think no one should have to provide ID esp if they have seen it before. I will be making an official complaint.
The range is good and the prices are OK but don't expect to find Asda Smartprice stuff here, it's all branded or premium own-brand. They don't have a bread slicer either. And they seem to be madly in love with self checkouts too - they do have two manned checkouts but it's very rare to find anyone actually manning them, and when they do, there's always plenty of self service tills free because people are queueing for the one manned checkout! The staff are also a bit pushy with dubious promotions, but that seems to sadly be about normal for retail now.
