Great value
Heating worked well. Bed was OK bit of a dip in the middle. Shower looked tired, cracked tile and shower tray was chipped, plenty of hot water though . WI-FI was not much use.Breakfast was very good.
The reception staff are wonderful here, really welcoming, friendly and helpful. Ive stayed in a many Travelodges over the years and so far the staff have been best here! The process of checking in was a breeze and I was quickly in my room on the first floor. With both a double bed and a separate single I assume it was a family room but the shape of the room was very odd. Clearly limited by the design of the building it was only possible to walk down one side of the double bed, and the single was right behind the door of the room. However it suited fine for a short stay and the bedroom area was clean enough.Theres no air-conditioning but there was a fan provided in the open wardrobe area. Noise from outside was acceptable, despite being on the main road, and the lighting was adequate. What was frustrating was the lack of any electric sockets next to the bed; instead there was only a couple on the desk, shared amongst the TV, kettle and any devices you have! The TV was a decent size and picture quality good, although I found the remote control a bit temperamental. The bathroom was a little more disappointing than the main sleeping area, clearly not having undergone a refit in a while. The shower area was looking a little grubby and the lack of any shelf was frustrating. Power of the shower was good though and its nice to see that there was no plastic cups by the sink (eco friendly) but unfortunately not replaced with any alternative, so balancing toothbrushes on the side of the sink is necessary!Sleep quality was fine, no noise from the corridors interrupted me and the bed was comfortable enough. One thing which sets this Travelodge apart from many others is the presence of the bar on the first floor. Its small but theres a good enough range of drinks and it was a friendly atmosphere. Theres a round-the-clock food menu, with pizzas and burgers being the main focus until 10pm. Its a shame that the sandwiches offered at that point arent also available earlier to give a lighter meal, but the staff were willing to take orders and serve direct to rooms which was nice.In the end I had a decent enough nights sleep here and the staff made me feel really welcome. Id happily stay here again despite the shortfalls in the room, but then it was a very affordable nights stay! If thats what youre looking for then it suits fine.
We have just stayed this weekend.the staff were so helpful Louise and pat B could not do anymore for us . nothing was to much trouble .great shops .pubs.great places to eat .the arena is fab to watch Jane McDonald .WE WILL BE BACK thank you 324 x
Great central location, though the subsidised parking is a ten minute walk away. Room was cheap and cheerful but the bed was great. One of the bedside lights was flashing (a bit worrying) and the decor could do with a spruce up. Serious lack of sockets in the room, and no USB charging points. No iron (or hairdryer apparently). Water took a fair while to run hot. OK if you just want somewhere to crash for the night.
